Aims and Objectives
Center for Research in Art of Film and Television (CRAFT) is a nonprofit organization registered as
a Public Charitable Trust. It was established to fulfill the following objectives:
- To strengthen education, training, creativity, research, documentation, dissemination,
criticism, distribution, and collaborations across disciplines in the field of film and
television.
- To impart quality education in the field of film, television, and other media through short term
and long term courses with specialization in various disciplines.
- To organize seminars, lectures, conferences, and film festivals spanning fiction, documentary,
short, and animation films in cooperation with other film organizations.
- To provide fellowship for research and development in film and television art.
- To provide an online archive and database on Indian and international cinema.
- To act as a resource center on matters related to production, exhibition, and distribution of films
in India and abroad.
- To set up a DVD library of Indian and international films, including foreign language films not easily
available in India.
- To facilitate the distribution of low budget or art house films (short, fiction, documentary, and animation)
of cultural and artistic merit.
- To provide travel grants to participate in international festivals, seminars, and conferences related to film and
television art.
- To set up a film fund that would provide bank guarantee and grants for script development, production, post
production and distribution.
- To act as a coordinating agency between broadcasting stations and film and television production companies.
To promote sensible and socially relevant cinema in schools and colleges.
